Start Computing Like the IT Pros with a Mac Tower

There are many computer brands available to the consumer, one of the most notable being the Mac. For decades, these Apple-branded products have provided reliable web services and computing abilities to users all over the world. For desktop style computers of this brand, a Mac tower is necessary for their computer functions, and they can be found on eBay both new and used.

For the most part, a Mac can interface with any brand of monitor you have. Apple makes their own computer monitors, of course, but other brands are perfectly functional. In order to connect to one of these affordable towers, a monitor will simply need to utilize an HDMI, DVI, or Thunderbolt connection as many do. Even if they dont, there are many adapters that can allow towers to connect to monitors that use different kinds of cables. Additionally, Mac devices are equipped with the standard USB ports.

It is entirely possible to connect your Mac desktop tower to a laptop or other Mac device. This is especially true for the Mac Mini which are deliberately made for easy connectivity with other devices. There are several methods for interfacing between different compatible devices, including:

• Ethernet cable: If both your devices have Ethernet hubs, you can simply plug in a single cable to each side to network the two. This is a good strategy for older devices especially as they may not support other types of connection.
• FireWire: Connecting two computers with a FireWire is as simple as plugging in a USB cable between the devices. Additionally, FireWire Target Disk Mode is a feature on several devices that allow one of the two connected systems to be utilized like a hard drive rather than a second computer.
• Wireless: Many Mac devices are equipped with AirPort or AirPort Extreme technology. This allows two compatible devices to network with each other wirelessly within a range of about 50 meters.

Mac towers come standard with a CD port capable of reading standard CD and DVD discs. Many have a button next to the port to open and close it while others do not. In either case, these ports can be opened by a command issued from the monitor in system menu and closed by simply pushing them back in.
