AudioQuest Speaker Cable Bi-Wire

Listening to music is fun, but sometimes finding the perfect cables for your speakers can be a challenge. Fortunately, AudioQuest, a company Irvine California, manufactures a wide range of cables for all kinds of audio and video systems. Digital to audio converters, audio and video accessories, headphones, HDMI cables, and power conditioning equipment are some other products the company creates. AudioQuest products have gained popularity over the years for their high performance, premium offerings.

What are the Advantages of Using AudioQuest Bi-Wire Speaker Cables?

Unlike traditional speakers, which were single-wire connected, most modern speakers can be "bi-wired. " This means that they come with a separate input for the woofer and separate inputs for the higher frequency speakers. According to AudioQuest, bi-wiring offers the following advantage:

  • Reduction of magnetic effect on cables - A bi-wire set up prevents the metal conductors that feed higher frequency speakers from handling the high magnetic fields that happen because of the high current that outputting the bass sound creates.
  • Better bass sound - Bi-wiring enables the treble signal to suffer less interference while the bass signal remains unaffected, resulting to even better bass energy.
  • More options - Unlike with mono-wiring, you have the ability to select different cables that are particularly suitable for each half of the frequency range.

When bi-wiring, it is important to keep in mind that the two bass and treble cables should either have essentially identical geometries or be identical. This will ensure that the capacitance and inductance remains balanced.

What Types of AudioQuest Bi-wire Speaker Cables are Available?

Star-quad, flat rock, tree, rocket, bulk spool, and solid + concentric speaker wires are available in AudioQuest's series of speaker cables.

  • Star quad series - AudioQuest Type 4 and GO 4 speaker cables fall in this category. Type 4 features solid long-grain copper (LGC) conductors, carbon-based noise-dissipation and cross-talk dissipation systems (insulation), star quad geometry, and spread spectrum technology (SST). GO 4 has all the features of Type 4 with the exception that it uses solid perfect rocket-surface copper + (PSC+) conductors and a dielectric-bias system.
  • Rocket series - Rocket 33, rocket 44 and rocket 55 appear in this category. This series has similar construction features, only the types of conductor for each cable differs. Rocket 33 uses solid long-grain copper/perfect surface copper (LGC/PSC) conductors while AudioQuest rocket 44 uses solid perfect-surface copper +/perfect-surface copper(PSC+/PSC)conductorsand rocket 88 uses solid perfect-surface copper + (PSC+) conductors and has a dielectric bias system not found in the other two.
  • Flat rock series - Castle rock, Comet, meteor, and K2 speaker cables fall in this category. This line aims to achieve high performance levels through double bi-wiring and employing High-Conductivity Silver conductors.
  • The AudioQuest Tree, Bulk spool and Solid + concentric series all bring their own uniquely integrated features that enable you to connect or interconnect your audio, amplifier, and video systems anyway you like without compromising on output quality.
