Elevate Any Viewing Experience With a 40-49-inch Rear-Projection Television

An LCD or rear-projection big screen television elevates the viewing experience by making watching TV shows, movie, or other video content much more immersive. The 40-49-inch rear-projection TVs provide a vibrant picture quality and are able to transform a living room into your own personal movie house. Even individuals with limited technical expertise can have a rear-projection TV up and running in no time.

How does a rear-projection TV work?

As the video feed reaches the projector inside the cabinet, it is reflected onto a piece of mirrored glass. The picture is then reversed and projected onto the back of the screen that is visible from the exterior of the unit. The screen itself should be cleaned on a regular basis to prevent dirt and other debris from affecting the quality of the picture.

What connections are compatible with a rear-projection TV?

Most rear-projection televisions like those in the 40- to 49-inch size range are compatible with a number of devices and are capable of receiving video feeds from a range of connection types. Some of these include:

  • HDMI: HDMI connections have become the standard. Nearly any device that transmits a high-definition TV (HDTV) picture will have an output that is compatible with those that are on a rear-projection device.
  • Component video: Another common way to connect a device to a TV is through the use of a component video connection, which typically consists of three separate connections that provide video, left, and right channel audio streams.
  • Coaxial connections: Standard-definition TV channels that are broadcast over the airwaves or via a cable provider usually connect via a coaxial cable connection and must be attached securely to prevent quality issues with the video stream.
Are rear-projection televisions susceptible to screen burn-in?

A plasma TV uses vastly different technology that activates individual sensors to broadcast a picture. This technology may lead to the occurrence of burn-in, which occurs when the same frame remains on the screen for an extended period. A rear projector unit is not susceptible to this issue due to the mirrored technology that is used to project an image.

Is a rear-projection TV compatible with external audio systems?

Most rear-projection systems come with a built-in audio output connection, and some even have a digital audio output outlet, which is compatible with most advanced audio systems. Most physical audio connections work seamlessly with an external device, including a subwoofer, and may be controlled with the units existing remote control.
